WHO WE ARE
OUR
HISTORY
The Jamaica Photography Society was birthed from the need of participants of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts’ photo club, who demanded a greater platform for continued presentation and discourse after Donnette Ingrid Zacca’s tenure as Head of the Photography Department. These persons wished to continue to create and cultivate teamwork through photography and photographic partnership all across Jamaica.
A mandate was developed and spearheaded by Musgrave Medalist and renowned Jamaican photographer Donnette Ingrid Zacca and a passionate committee of committed and young vibrant photographers. The Society had its first meeting at the Sanaa Studios on Barbican Road on March 6, 2017.
The Society set out with a commitment to nurture, encourage and support the art of photography in all its forms in Jamaica. It is intended that members will develop comrade and a sense for aesthetic qualities and standards
